Memorial Project - Evaluation and Representation
As evaluators you are requested to carefully study the images on the blog-site. If the images are not clear then you may note so in the evaluation forms. A good design is one that is 1) easily understood, 2) well liked and 3) that allows one to see their world differently and in new ways. Did these designs succeed in doing so?
In addition, you will be examining the success of this design using the following categories:
1.       Is the design engaging and democratic?
2.       Is the design socially relevant? A work existing in a vacuum is not a successful design. The design needs to connect with residents and community members.
3.       Is the design contextual? Context is not merely the location where the design is built – it includes social, cultural, ecological, historical, economic and political contexts within which this design will exist.
